If you already have some prior history working for a supermarket or similar, then you might find yourself very much at home as a volunteer. Donated food must be transported, stored, sorted, shelved, and rotated out as the need arises. Floors must be swept, tables must be cleaned and arranged, and occasionally some people may need assistance in carrying food to their vehicles. For those who are young or lacking in such a background, volunteering may still provide an invaluable experience.
In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes from helping your local community, as a volunteer you can also gain benefits.
Volunteers may shop on the day they volunteer.
Volunteer drivers can receive a mileage credit towards the shopping donation.
Volunteers may have access to a limited selection of food and drinks while helping.
If you do find yourself interested in becoming a volunteer, then please view the contact page for ways to get in touch with one of our directors. Any help that you might be able to provide will be appreciated.
